Trainer Bio

Dr. Carol Atkinson is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the states of Florida, New York, Texas, and Colorado. With a professional background in Social Work from London England, including child protection, mental health and social work education/training, Dr. Atkinson transitioned to psychotherapy in 2006 and is now a professor of family therapy. As a Prepare Enrich facilitator since 2015, and a Prepare Enrich trainer since 2018, she believes in the transformative power of evidence-based models to inform the practice of couples therapy, hence her desire to become certified herself. As a professor in both a master’s and doctoral program where she jointly developed a course in Advanced Couples Therapy for the DMFT program, she is convinced of the benefits for additional training of therapists to become certified, and as a result, work more effectively with couples.
